HATTIESBURG, Miss.—The Marshall University women's golf team shot its lowest team score in program history, posting a 298 on the second day of the Conference USA Championship in Hattiesburg, Miss., at Canebrake Country Club on Monday afternoon.

The Thundering Herd improved 11 strokes from round one and beat its previous team-record low of 299 at the Wachovia Great Smokies Intercollegiate in 2006.  Marshall remains in seventh place following Tuesday's play, but is just five-strokes behind sixth place UTEP.

Tulane shot a 283 on day two, to build on its lead over the nine competing C-USA teams.

Andrea Grier, from Hagerstown, Md., shot a career-low, and a team-individual-season-low, 70 to drop her score five strokes from day one.  Grier sits tied for fifth, at three-over-par for the tournament thus far (75-70=145).

Larie Lynch, from Huntington, W.Va., improved four strokes, to post a 74 on Monday afternoon (78-74=152), while Samantha DiDomenico, from Follansbee, W.Va., sliced seven strokes off her opening round score to tally a 76 on day two (83-76=159).

Rachel Halloran, from Leawood, Kan., who entered the afternoon tied for 10th, shot a 78 on day two, to fall to seven-over-par (73-78=151).

Maria Battaglia, from Uniontown, Pa., completed the Marshall squad with an 84 on day two (84-84=168).

Tulane's Ashley McKenney was able to take sole possession of first place, as she posted a tournament-low 68 on Monday to put her two-day total at 138 (70-68=138).

The Conference USA Championship concludes on Tuesday with the final round of play beginning at 8 a.m., with the winner receiving an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
