Wednesday, Marshall University students had a chance to participate in a flash mob for a television show that will be nationally televised. As you walked by the student center, you couldn’t help but see the smiling faces and joyous attitudes that surrounded the campus.

This is something Marshall needs more of — happiness. In a time of our football team causing massive heartache on national television, being named the fattest city in America and controversy in our administration, it’s nice to see some happiness on campus.

Maybe Wednesday’s flash mob will show students that it is OK to dance and enjoy yourselves. Life is too short to always worry about class.

We are not saying skip your classes and avoid doing homework, but you should at least enjoy yourselves while you’re in college. These are the years of your life that you should enjoy, because after college you have to make it in the “real world.”

Look at the parade scene in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Singing and dancing brought the entire city of Chicago together. How do you watch that and not say “I wish that would happen to me. I want to be that happy.”

Yes we are joking in telling you to dance everywhere, but we are serious in telling you to loosen up and enjoy your college experience. You should remember, “All work and no play makes Marco a dull boy.”
