Joshua Adam Amory, 19, of Scott Depot, W.Va., was arrested in connection with shoplifting from the Marshall University Bookstore on Oct. 16. Officers stopped the suspect in the 1600 block of Fifth Avenue where the suspect was identified as Amory. He was arrested and read his Miranda rights, where he agreed to speak and write a statement of his involvement in several crimes that had taken place over several days. Amory admitted to stealing backpacks and textbooks from the Memorial Student Center and the Marshall bookstore from Oct. 13 to Oct. 16. Amory was charged with three counts of false pretenses, two counts of petit larceny and one count of shoplifting. He was taken to Magistrate Darrell Black and was arraigned on those charges.
